Professor Steve WaiChing Sun is the Winner of the 2016 O.C. Zienkiewicz Medal
Professor Steve WaiChing Sun is selected as the winner for 2016 O. C. Zienkiewicz Medal with his paper “A Stabilized Finite Element Formulation on Monolithic Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Simulations at Finite Strain,” which was published in the International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 103, Issue 11, pp. 798-839.
The Zienkiewicz Numerical Methods in Engineering Prize was instituted in 1998 following a donation by John Wiley & Sons Ltd to commemorate the work of the late Professor Olgierd Cecil Zienkiewicz CBE DSc FRS FREng of the Institute for Numerical Methods in Engineering, University of Wales, Swansea. The prize (£1,000 and silver medal) is awarded biennially to a post-graduate researcher under the age of 40 who submits the paper which contributes most to research in the field of numerical methods in engineering among the following journals:
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics
International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields ICE Proceedings
Previous Zienkiewicz winners are: Sanjay Govindjee (1998), Tarek I. Zohdi (2000), Perumal Nithiarasu (2002), Gregory J. Wagner (2004), Jose Andrade (2006), Jens Wackerfuß (2008), Ignacio Romero (2010), Wulf G. Dettmer (2012), and Domink Schillinger (2014).
