Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics PhD Students Win Awards at 2018 EMI Conference

The Civil Engineering & Engineering Mechanics Department congratulates PhD students Ioannis Petromichelakis, Rilin Shen, and Qiliang Lin for receiving awards at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) - Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) Conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA (May 29 - June 1, 2018)

Best Student Paper Award (Dynamics Committee Competition)

CEEM EMI Award winners

Awarded to Ioannis Petromichelakis for his paper "Stochastic response analysis and optimum design of nonlinear electromechanical energy harvesters: A Wiener path integral approach" co-authored with Apostolos F. Psaros and Ioannis A. Kougioumtzoglou.

 
CEEM EMI Award winners

PhD student Rilin Shen that is working with Prof. Haim Waisman has received the 3rd place in the EMI-2018 student competition sponsored by the Modeling of Inelasticity and Multiscale Behavior committee. Rilin Shen, who is a two year visiting student from Harbin Institute of Technology, received the award for his paper: “Fracture of Viscoelastic Materials Modeled with A Modified Phase Field Method”.

 

PhD student Qiliang Lin won the EMI Modeling Inelasticity & Multiscale Behavior Committee student competition at the EMI 2018 conference at MIT.

3rd Place (Modeling Inelasticity & Multiscale Behavior Committee) Awarded to Qiliang Lin for his paper "Micromechanics-based elastoplastic modeling of functionally graded materials with pairwise particle interactions" co-authored with Liangliang Zhang, Fangliang Chen and Huiming Yin.
